Speech – Language Department

 

Who are they?
A speech-language pathologist is a professional educated in the study of human communication, its development and disorders. By evaluating the speech and language skills of children and adults, the speech therapist determines if communication problems exist and decides the best way to treat them.

What do they do?
Speech therapists' services include evaluation, identification, treatment and rehabilitation of an individual's communication skills. They also evaluate and treat swallowing dysfunctions.

Who do they work with?
Speech-language pathologists work with people who have difficulty speaking clearly or are unable to speak at all. They also assist people who have difficulty swallowing and eating. In addition, speech therapists focus on cognition, memory, reading and writing skills as they relate to communicating.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Consists of inpatient as well as outpatient clients that range from the elderly recovering from CVA’s and dysphagia to the very young exhibiting feeding and developmental delays.

Our facility is also offering “Play Therapy” to enhance the peer relations and play of children within the autism spectrum disorder. Integrated playgroups are designed to support children with developmental disabilities in a mutually enjoyable play experience with typically developing peers and siblings.
